Pay attention now, the Story’s About to Begin . . .
Charlie Sheen famously said:
“I don’t pay hookers to come over to my house, I pay them to leave!”
Now, it’s possible that Charlie was on some kind of drug when he uttered those words but he was trying to make a point.
Allow me to explain.
You see, what Mr. Sheen really wants is to have an enjoyable night of sex with a woman and that’s it!
He is not looking for a relationship. He doesn’t see himself strolling through Whole Foods picking out organic lettuce with this woman.
So, what does Charlie Sheen (and his hookers) have to do with you and your email marketing?
I’m glad you asked.
You see, while Charlie may not want a relationship, you should be seeking a relationship with your clients every chance you get.
Building a relationship with your clents is essential these days. In a world where people can shop at 1000’s of websites instantly, getting them to know, like and trust you has never been more important.
But, do you really think sending them “junk email flyers” is the way to build a relationship? You know what I’m talking about. Emails with your logo on the top followed by a pithy slogan and some tiny grainy photos of whatever you are selling that week. The kind you delete without a second thought.
I call this “flyering” and it leads to:
- low delivery rates
- emails landing in Spam folders
- emails landing in Promotions folders
- low open rates
- low click through rates
- high unsubscribe rates
- low sales
You’ll note, there is no mention of Know-Like-Trust or relationship building. That’s because “flyering” doesn’t work for those things.
But, StoryMails does.
Thanks for reading,
